Maria also offers one-on-one private sessions and group classes focused on healing the body, mind and soul. Functional Yoga Therapy™, Ayurveda, bodywork, seasonal cleanses and transformative retreats are just some of the methods she uses to guide people toward a greater sensitivity and understanding of perceived limitations.

Functional Yoga Therapy: Preparatory Skills and Tools (Virtual) November 9-10 and 16-17, 2024
IN CONJUNCTION WITH INNERPEACE YOGA THERAPY
Join us for the Functional Yoga Therapy: Preparatory Skills and Tools training, led by Maria Shamas. This transformative training will take place November 9-10 and 16-17, 2024, live on Zoom.
Hosted by Inner Peace Yoga Therapy, this module is designed specifically for yoga teachers like you who want to deepen their understanding of advanced anatomy and its connection to physical movement.
This module explores advanced anatomy and its relationship to physical movement; along with practical treatment applications. The human body will be studied as a sacred temple with all of its myriad complexities for both assessment and individualized therapeutic application. Participants will be guided in teachings pertaining to advanced postural assessment, range of motion, basic muscle strength & flexibility testing, practical Ayurvedic concepts related to the assessment and treatment process, understanding of the client’s emotional anatomy and training in practitioner sensitivity & awareness. Participants will both experience and facilitate all assessment techniques taught, through this gaining a more thorough understanding of specific symptomatic presenting issues, while maintaining the greater focus of the client as a fully integrative whole human being
This course provides 40 credits toward Yoga Therapy certification and 40 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Units.
During this training, you will:

Functional Yoga Therapy™ is registering for its signature certification course in 2025: FYT Advanced Assessment & Treatment Techniques
The next offering of this course will be a 4-day in person course plus online preparatory work. The In Person Training is February 17-20, 2025, hosted in Tucson, Arizona. Completion of approx. 25hrs of Preparatory Homework (beginning in late 2024) is required prior to training.
This course has a new expanded manual including Tele-health concepts, updated lectures in functional movement, and a larger module in Ayurveda for Yoga Therapy; as well as learning and reference videos. Class size is limited. This course is offered in a hybrid in-person and online format. Register soon.
